Why order locally-grown beef?
QUALITY! We believe it’s important to know where your food comes from and how it was raised. We raise our beef at our home farm from calf to finishing and feed a combination of home-grown corn and pellets. We do not use growth hormones. Locally-grown beef is fresh and tastes delicious–and you get to customize the way the meat is cut and packaged!
How much does a quarter cost?
Beef is priced by the hanging weight, and the current price is $2.90/lb hanging weight. A quarter averages 225 pounds hanging weight and costs approximately $650.00. This is approximately $6.00/lb take-home weight for all of your roasts, steaks, and ground beef–comparable to what you would spend at the grocery store but for better quality beef!
What do I get in a quarter?
A quarter contains a variety of roasts, steaks, ground beef, and other cuts. Our standard cut sheet includes:
What about other cuts of beef?
Looking for something specific? Just ask!
Other cuts may be available but often cannot be combined with other choices. For example, the loin is usually cut into t-bone and porterhouse steaks. However, the same loin can be cut into strip steaks and filets instead when ordering a half. The more beef you buy, the more flexibility you have when it comes to processing!
How much freezer space will I need?
As a rule of thumb, plan on 1 cubic foot of freezer space for every 30-40 pounds of beef. This means a quarter will require 2-3 cubic feet of freezer space. Many people with limited freezer space choose to split a quarter with their family and friends.
How do I place an order?
Call 517.484.2868 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your beef.
We take beef to the butcher year round and reserve orders by the month. Because we process a limited number of animals each season, reservations fill up quickly. We recommend you place your order a few months in advance.
To be added to the reservation list, we need a completed order form as well as a $150.00 non-refundable deposit.
